You are free to see any doctor you wish but we do advise staying with the same doctor for a particular illness or problem as continuity improves the standard of care we can provide.

The Practice Nurses are available by appointment through the Reception staff. They can help with travel advice, removal of stitches, blood tests, infant and adult immunisation, dietary advice, dressings, ear syringing and advice on a wide range of health matters.  They have been trained in  the assessment and treatment of minor illness and injuries.  The monitoring of long-term diseases such as asthma, diabetes and blood pressure problems are also part of their routing work.

They are usually available for telephone advice from 12.00 to 1.00pm on weekdays. The phlebotomist helps the nurses by taking blood tests ordered by the doctors and nurses.

The team provides expert professional nursing care at home for people of all ages during acute or chronic illness. They offer advice and support on matters concerning health, including continence, to patients, their families and carers. By working closely with other health care professionals and Social Services they aim to meet the needs of the local community.

The Health Visitors are qualified nurses with special training and experience in child health, health promotion and health education. They are here to listen to you, and help, advise and support in all sorts of situations, including normal child development.

1.8 Community Midwife

The Midwife holds antenatal clinics and classes and visits all new mothers and newborn babies in their own homes. She can advise you of local parentcraft classes and is happy to discuss and answer any questions.

Antenatal clinics are held at Elm Tree Surgery by the Midwife every Thursday afternoon and some Wednesdays.

1.9 The Ridgeway Community Mental HealthTeam

The team consists of a community psychiatric nurse,  a clinical psychologist and consultant psychiatry staff. They provide mental health  services for elderly people with mental health problems and their carers in Oxfordshire. They can be contacted on  (01235) 810575.

1.10 Community Psychiatric Nurses

The community psychiatric nurses are based in, Swindon Tel: (01793) 715002 (24 hour answer phone if no one is immediately available). They provide care and support in the community to patients and their carers.

1.11 Counsellor

This service is available for counselling patients with relationship and emotional difficulties.  Patients can be seen free on the NHS when referred by one of the doctors.

1.12 Psychologist

The psychologist works using a number of psychology techniques with individuals or couples who have a variety of difficulties such as anxiety, phobia, relationship problems, emotional difficulties and psychosexual problems.

1.13 Physiotherapist

The Physiotherapist holds clinics at the surgery on Thursday and Friday mornings for the assessment and treatment of joints, soft tissue and muscular problems. A referral from doctor or nurse is necessary.

1.14 The Dietician

The Dietician holds clinics at the surgery on a regular basis. She provides advice on dietary aspects of medical problems. A referral from doctor or nurse is necessary.
